welcome to the new year contact improvisation festival at fools' valley, 30 minutes north of lisbon. a complete immersion, celebration and study of contact improvisation over the turn of the year, in two parts.

part I — the festival · dec 28 – jan 2

five days of classes, labs, talks, score jams, live music and the new year's marathon jam, with Alexa, Viktoria, Francisco and friends.

part II — the retreat · jan 5 – 10

five days of focused, in-depth work: a retreat for dancers who want to go deeper, with focused jams and performative laboratories.

who it is for

dancers and movers with some experience of contact improvisation, from the curious beginner with a few jams behind them to the long-time practitioner. you choose part I, part II, or both.

food & rooms

  • 3 vegetarian meals a day. arrival day is dinner only, departure day is breakfast only.
  • during the break between the parts (jan 2 – 5), meals are organised with community cooking shifts, groceries provided.
  • shared rooms have mostly 2 single beds, with a couple of bigger rooms with 3. limited private rooms with double beds.

from €390 (part II, own van), all included — accommodation, food and the facilitators fee.
